2018 Conference Booking Site now Live!

Please see the registration link at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/highland-parent-council-conference-2018-registration-49599489408 to register for the 2018 HPCP Conference being held on Saturday 17 November in the Council Chamber in Inverness.
The Conference starts at 0930 (delegate registration) for a 1000 opening address.
The morning session will include speakers from the Highland Council and organisations like respectmeThe National Parent Forum for Scotland, other third sector organisations, and High Life Highland Community Learning and Development.
Some of the morning session information-sharing will prepare delegates for the workshops after the free lunch, where a range of topics can be discussed in more detail to respond directly to the needs of parent councils and parents.  We will run two or three workshops in parallel, over two one-hour sessions 1330-1430 and 1430-1530.  Topics are detailed in the registration link and when you register we need to know which two workshop topics you are most interested in so we can schedule them most efficiently.
The HPCP Annual General Meeting will be held immediately after lunch.  This AGM is a legal requirement for the HPCP as a Charity, but it will be quick – hopefully just 15 minutes as we have very little HPCP “admin” to deal with!  We are however looking for volunteers for HPCP Executive roles, so if you are interested in getting more involved, let me know and I can give you more information.
Please forward this to all your parents and ask your Headteacher to send it out too if they are willing to do so – which they should be as Highland Council is supporting the Conference in a big way and sees it as a vital part of parental engagement.
If you want to see what we did last year then take a look at http://www.highlandpcp.org.uk/2017-annual-conference-and-agm-minutes/.  No “big name” politicians this year, but more on what is actually happening to education in Highland and practical measures to make parent councils easier to run and more effective.
