Louise Haggarty works for Sustrans Scotland, the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle. She is trying to develop resources and initiatives to promote and encourage active travel, as well as being more active for fun, and is looking at transitional periods for children. As you may know there is a marked decline in activity levels from primary school to secondary school, and Sustrans is hoping to tackle this, with your help.
Being active has many health benefits, and creating good habits in childhood helps create healthy habits in adulthood. It helps if parents have a good knowledge of the benefits of keeping active, and Louise is offering a free interactive workshop for parents. If you have ideas on how to promote active travel to children, Sustrans has resources and capacity to help turn these ideas into reality.
